Coffee Tips

  • Purchasing whole beans and grinding right before you brew will give you the best flavors the coffee can give you.
  • Water plays a VERY important role in your coffee’s flavor. If possible stay away from city tap water. Well water is fine. Reverse Osmosis and filtered works best.
  • Coffee is at it’s best tasting between date of roast and 30 days from roast date.
  • Doing espresso? Try a finer grind and harder tampering.
  • Play with the amount of coffee grinds per water ratio. Its all about preference. We’ve done 4 rounded scoops of coffee grinds for 12 cups of coffee. but again its all in how you prefer your coffee. If it’s too strong, try less coffee grinds to water ratio. Too watery, try more coffee grinds to water ratio. It’s all in your preference.

The Grind Matters:
Coffee not tasting right? It could be your grind. Try different grinds until you find what’s right for you.

Too coarse and underextracted = bland watery taste

Too fine and overextracted = bitter tasting

Sweetner’s Role in Coffee

Sweetners can play a role in how your coffee tastes. Depending on what sweetner you choose can give your coffee a little something extra.

Sugars
White Sugar – this is just sweeten it up and enhance the flavors of the coffee
Brown Sugar – this will bring out more carmelization in the coffee
Raw Sugar – this is similar to white sugar but provides a richer, more subtle natural flavor

Honey
· Orange Blossom – gives more of a sweeter floral note
· Wildflower Honey – gives a woodsy floral notes
· Alfalfa honey – grassy
· Clover honey has no bitterness, and it’s a clean and mild option.
· Avocado honey – a little bit floral with a buttery taste.
· Acacia honey is sweet and ideal for gently enhancing everyday brews.

· Avocado – collected from the flowers, with a buttery taste that’s not dissimilar to those bullet coffees that are the staple of keto lovers.
· Tupelo honey is brilliant for spiced winter coffees, with a slight cinnamon scent.
· Manuka honey can get seriously pricey, but it’s also one of the most potent honeys and a big plus if you’re emphasizing health benefits.
· Palmetto honey – caramel and fruity undertones, with a surprisingly powerful flavor.
